Increase in our body temperature causes perspiration. In some cases, people may experience excessive sweating without an obvious causative factor; this is known as hyperhidrosis and may affect the face, armpits, hands, and feet. Botulinum toxin injections block the nerve pathways thereby preventing the glands producing sweat.
With age, skin loses collagen and elastin. This leads to thin, less elastic skin on the neck. Combined with fat loss, the appearance of neck wrinkles and sagging occurs. Botulinum toxin, dermal fillers, and PDO (polydioxanone) threads are used to work on the appearance of the décolletage.
Cellulite is dimpling often found on thighs, hips and tummies. It occurs when fat deposits push through the connective tissue beneath the skin. Mesotherapy – injection of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes into the mesoderm, middle layer of skin has been found to be a successful treatment for some grades of cellulite.
Stretch marks are tearing of the dermis of the skin caused by rapid stretching which may be due to growth or weight changes. They are narrow streaks or lines that occur on the surface of the skin, often red or purple initially, before fading to a silvery-white colour. Micro-needling and the use of PRP have been successful in helping to reduce the appearance of stretch marks.
